Every coworking website shows the same sunlit lounge. The difference between studios only appears in person — in noise levels, chair quality and how the host greets you. Here's what to check on any tour, including ours.

Sound before style

Stand in the main work area for a full minute and just listen. Can you hear calls from the lounge? Is there a genuinely quiet zone, or just a sign asking for one? Great studios separate energy from focus architecturally, not hopefully.

Light, air and chairs

Check daylight at desk depth, not just by the windows. Sit in five different chairs — you'll spend two thousand hours a year in one of them. Ask about air conditioning zones; one thermostat per floor is a red flag.

If a studio won't let you try a full workday before joining, ask yourself why.

The unglamorous checklist

Run a speed test on the guest WiFi. Open a phone booth door and check the ventilation. Look at the kitchen at 1 PM — its state tells you everything about operations. Ask how meeting room conflicts are resolved and what happens when the printer jams on a deadline day.

People and terms

Notice whether the host introduces you to members, and whether members look up and smile. Then read the terms: notice periods, guest policies and what "all locations included" actually covers. The best studios answer all of this before you ask.

We built this checklist into our own tours — come and grade us on it.
